Manifestation stems from the idea that you can bring positive outcomes in your life with certain tactics. It’s a new-age concept that took off after the release of The Secret. Many people manifest when they say things like “speak it into existence” but often never stop to think about what The Bible says about this. When asking if manifestation a sin, you also have to ask if you truly believe God and his word? Many people believe in God but struggle to believe in his word, which allows everyone to make God into whatever we want him to be.
The Slave Serves The Master
Romans 6:16 -18
Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness? But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed, and, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness.
If you are a follower of Jesus Christ, it means that you are a slave to righteousness, and you recognize that you are under the sovereign control of God. Being a slave does not sit well with our current culture. This is because we love our individual freedom and the idea of being a slave is ridiculous to people.
Here is the problem, everyone is a slave to something or someone. If you are not a slave to Jesus Christ, then you are a slave to whatever else you idolize. If you idolize entertainment, then you become a slave to it, and it runs and controls your life if you are a slave to Jesus Christ, then it’s he who dictates your life.
You are called to serve God. God is not here to serve you. He uses us for his purposes and not the other way around. The uncomfortable truth that people need to hear is that the purpose of the church is not to serve you. Your mission is to serve God.
The Problem With Manifestation
When you manifest, you are the one who is in control. If you have the ability to control life and decide the future, then you become God. Why would you serve God if you can dictate and make life whatever you want it to be? Manifestation is a sin because it idolizes the self. Humans’ purpose is to serve God, not manifest things of this world. God is not concerned about your happiness as much as he is concerned about your holiness.
Scripture says to ask, and it will be given, but that ask needs to come from the will of the father. How do you know the will of the father? You have to look to the Word of God and see what it has to say.
What do most people try to manifest?
If God’s word said we could ask him for a house, and he would give it to us, then we could ask for it. In the book of Matthew, Jesus introduced the upside-down Kingdom. What you see in this new Kingdom is that what matters is not the things of this world. The new Kingdom points you toward this idea that the first will be last, and the last will be first. If you want to enter this Kindom, you get there by serving others, not by being rich.
Why Is Manifestation So Attractive?
Manifestation has been catching the eyes of Christians for some time now. It does because we are attracted to the things of this world.
1 John 2: 15-17
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.
The scripture above points to three ways that the devil ensnares us.
- Desires of The Flesh
- Desires of The Eyes
- Pride of Life
The Desires of the Flesh are the things we need for our flesh to be fulfilled. This usually includes sins like sexual morality. The desires of the eyes are the thing we see with our eyes and want. The pride of life is moving this world and life too much and not being able to let go of this life.
Manifestation helps us to fulfill all of these desires and our pride. When you can manifest a relationship, get love on demand, and get that hot new car, Manifestation allows you to love yourself and focus on yourself as much as your heart desires instead of focusing on God and what he wants for his children.
Manifestation and the Prosperity Gospel
Manifestation goes hand and hand with the prosperity gospel. The prosperity Gospel is not the real Gospel. The real good news is about the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and the many implications that come from it. The prosperity Gospel focuses on how following Jesus produces material wealth.
The prosperity Gospel pushes people towards sin. Many people never stop to think if the manifestation is a sin because the prosperity Gospel has already planted a lie. The prosperity gospel tickles the ears of many because it sounds great, and its very much of this world. “Believe in Jesus, and he will make you rich” is the message proclaimed.
What the Prosperity Gospel Skips
- The Bible is not about you
- Persecution in the name of Jesus
- Denying they self
- Picking up the cross
- The Death and Resurrection of Christ
If Manifestation is a Sin? How Do You Stay Away From It
Trust in the Lord and lean not on your own understanding.
The problem with how people approach manifestation is they lean on what they want and their own will, disregarding what the Bible has to say. If you want to stay far from this stuff, focus on your sin. See scriptures as a mirror and use them to see how far apart form God you are. You are the furthest thing from holy when you see God is holy.
When you start there, you become weary of going off on your path and trusting your understanding of the world. Manifestation is not biblical, its a man-made idea that helps you to fulfill your selfish desire. Believing anything else is a lie!
Find Contentment in The Lord
People want to manifest because they are not content in God. When you are content in God, you worship him in all you do because of who he is and nothing more. The prosperity Gospel has taught people to worship God ONLY because of what he may be able to do for them.
Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
One of the best things you can do in this world is to be content. When you are content, you worship God because you are thankful for what he has already given you. You don’t need more, and you realize that you don’t deserve anything. You are at peace with God, and his grace becomes sufficient.
When you hunger and thirst for more, you are never filled. Your house will never be big enough, your car will never be luxurious enough, and you will always need another title to fit your ego. This world was never meant to satisfy us because only God can do that. When asking the question, is manifestation a sin, seek a place of contentment with God first to find the truth.
