Saints, before we delve into what can wash away sin, let’s talk first about sin. Sin is a terrible mystery because it is the one thing that separates us and still separates us from God. Sin is a spirit, and also it has a nature that it imparts on its victims. The art of sinning is the manifestation of the presence of sin. Sin is a nature that has its characteristics for expressions as acts.
There are two concepts when it comes to sin:
The ENTITY of sin as a nature
What Can Wash Away My Sin? Sin as nature was embellished with the entity of a master that enslaves. The nature and character of sin were found in Adam, the first man. Sin, as a master, always sought the opportunity to rule over its subjects and make them do their bidding.
Being subjects of sin, we do not have the strength, capacity, technology, and civilization to overcome sin. Hence we needed one that would encounter sin and yet be not subject to it.
By the victory of Christ’s death, resurrection and glorification, we understand that sin was overthrown and destroyed by the finished works of the cross.
Jesus became man’s anointed Messiah!
The first man, Adam, allowed sin into this material world by the very act of disobedience. Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned — Romans 5:12.
Sin in one man, Adam, produced sinners of all men!
In Romans 5:12, the phrase, ‘all sinned,’ is a legal term that binds by association, origination, or source. We are the progenitor from the first man who gave to sin the pathway into this material world. By this simple act, all men came under a new master, sin, whether willingly or unwillingly. Sin had access into the world of man; thereby man could not remain in God’s garden at Eden.
Paul wrote to the Romans in the 23rd verse of chapter 6 about the ‘wages of sin’ being death. The sinful nature of man automatically produces acts and deeds of sin.
The sinful nature forces you to do wrong as your master and is willing to pay you for the ‘wrong well done.’
The justice system says every worker is worthy of his wages. As sinful men, we have worked for sin, and it is just to receive our wages, Death! Sin pays all men with death!
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. – Romans 6:23
This death was the first eternal separation from God, the Father of light. The man God placed in the garden became separated from light and the life of God.
For this purpose, Jesus was made manifest in the flesh to bring man into the light and life of God. Being saved is, therefore, conditional on receiving Jesus Christ. Any man who has not received the one who overcame sin is still a sinner. The Lordship of Christ in your life is to administer the newness of God’s life, which is a Free Gift.
The DEEDS of sin as a miss of the mark
As we daily live in an imperfect world, the imperfection of our human nature is expressed in many ways.
What Can Wash Away My Sin?
The word “sin,” as it appears in the New Testament, comes from the Greek word Hamartia or the Hebrew word Hata, which both mean “to miss the mark” or “to err.”
When we err in our love walk with God, we fall off the way in our relationship with him. Every act or deed of sin done, consciously and unconsciously, refers to falling short of the glory of God. One aspect of sin is missing the mark of God’s standards of righteousness.
Consequences of Sin
The works of the flesh, as highlighted in Galatians 5, continually leave us with shame, guilt, and condemnation. But there is cleansing power in the blood that, when applied to our conscience, relinquishes us from shame, guilt, and condemnation.
Shame results from the consciousness of missing the mark of perfection in being the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. You have exposed yourself, a child of righteousness, to deeds of unrighteousness, which is not who you are in Christ.
Guilt is a surety or certainty that you have erred and therefore need to be reconciled back to God. it is your conscience pricking you that you have gone out of line in unrighteousness.
Condemnation is the feeling your heart sends you that you can not help yourself. It is the indication that you can are limited in yourself.
But thanks be to God that we are more than conquerors in all these.
Efficacy of the Blood
There is one whose righteousness stands before God is adequate for all. Also, his blood is accepted on your behalf before the righteous judge.
This is the difference between atonement for sin in the Old Testament and purging of sin in the New Testament.
“Hebrews 9:13a; “The blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean.”
The blood goats and bulls could only cover for the outward deeds of the people, not for the very nature that sin ingrafted into the framework of human life.
And this atonement of cover lasted for only one year. After one year, another sacrifice is required to appease the law’s righteous demands.
Thanks be to God that He provided the eternal sacrifice whose blood is able to destroy sin and also cleanse the conscience from acts that lead to death again – Hebrews 9:13-14.
This blood is for you a newness of life in Christ Jesus.
Thus, If the newness of life in Christ is a gift, how much more the washing away of the ‘the deeds of sin.’
The cross took away the nature and stature of slavery – Romans 6:6 – that you were once under unto death. On the other hand, the fellowship with Christ cleanses you from ‘all unrighteousness’ by ‘The Blood!’
Yes, The Blood! Yes, the same blood that was shed on the cross is also present today to wash away every sin and misdeed to perfect your walk with God.
The father’s love is captivated by the efficacy of the shed blood for you.
The cross closed the door of sin, enslaving anyone of us anymore. Thus we are free to draw near unto God, worshipping him in spirit and truth.
God’s plan of salvation through Jesus included His death on the cross, where He shed His precious blood. It is His blood that washes away sin (Revelation 1:5b)
Applying the Blood
Our part in the washing process is to confess our deeds of sin, and he is faithful to forgive us and also cleanse us from all unrighteousness – 1 John 1:9.
Acknowledging his perfection and position as your high priest entering the veil on your behalf gives us the confidence petitioned for before the father of glory.
Having asked for this forgiveness, believe that you have received the forgiveness.
The father is more willing to forgive than you are most willing to ask for his forgiveness.
The promise of the blood speaks better on your behalf so that you can be perfected in the mercies of God.

What Can Wash Away My Sin? The beauty of receiving God’s forgiveness is obtaining his grace to be made perfect. His desire for you is to be an overcomer so that you will obtain a crown of glory.
His mercy of forgiveness is a provision of spiritual advantage to enable progression from thinking and talking like a child to thinking and talking like a man in Christ.
