Evangelism is the promotion or act of publicly preaching the Gospel with the intention of spreading the message and teachings of Jesus Christ. Evangelism is the kingdom responsibility of all believers. There are many verses of scripture that speaks to evangelism. This is a collection of Bible verses relating to evangelism, spreading the good news of Christ and of His Kingdom.

“‘Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.”

Bible Verses About Evangelism

John 20:21 (NIV)

“‘As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give. “Do not get any gold or silver or copper to take with you in your belts— no bag for the journey or extra shirt or sandals or a staff, for the worker is worth his keep. Whatever town or village you enter, search there for some worthy person and stay at their house until you leave. As you enter the home, give it your greeting. If the home is deserving, let your peace rest on it; if it is not, let your peace return to you. If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, leave that home or town and shake the dust off your feet.”

Matthew 10:7-14

Acts 13:47 (NIV)

“‘He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”

Mark 16:15

“Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Matthew 5:15-16

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.”

Romans 1:16

Matthew 4:17

Matthew 4:19

Acts 20:20

1 Peter 3:15

 2 Corinthians 5:20

“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.”

2 Timothy 2:15

“‘Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

Acts 2:38

“For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel—not with wisdom and eloquence, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.”

1 Corinthians 1:17

 “‘Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Matthew 28:19-20

 “‘Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

Matthew 9:37-38

Isaiah 6:8 (NIV)

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away, and look, new things have come. Everything is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: That is, in Christ, God was reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed the message of reconciliation to us. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, certain that God is appealing through us. We plead on Christ’s behalf, “Be reconciled to God.” He made the One who did not know sin to be sin for us so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”

2 Corinthians 5:17-21

“Now I want to make clear for you, brothers and sisters, the gospel that I preached to you, that you received and on which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold firmly to the message I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I passed on to you as of first importance what I also received—that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, and that he was buried, and that he was raised on the third day according to the scriptures.”

Why Should We Evangelize?  

Bible Verses About Evangelism. “How are they to call on one they have not believed in? And how are they to believe in one they have not heard of? And how are they to hear without someone preaching to them?”

Romans 10:14

“‘If we are “out of our mind,” as some say, it is for God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you. For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died.”

2 Corinthians 5:13-14

Become an Evangelical Believer

All believers are called by God to the ministry of reconciliation. This shoulders everyone with the badge of being an evangelical Christian. Jesus commanded us all to share the Good News with everyone. 

God has empowered us to carry out His will of proclaiming the good news of Jesus and his salvation. The more we witness, the more people get saved. How can people get saved if they don’t hear the gospel?

The most loving thing you can ever do is share Jesus with an unbeliever. Evangelizing helps us grow in Christ.
