Exodus 24/4

English Standard Version 

 4 And Moses wrote all the words of the Lord, rose up early in the morning, and built an altar under the hill, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel.

New International Version

So Moses wrote down all the words of the Lord. He got up early in the morning and built an altar with twelve pillars for the twelve tribes of Israel at the base of the mountain.

King James Version

4 And Moses wrote all the words of the Lord, and rose up early in the morning, and built an altar under the hill, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel.

 

Breakdown of Exodus 24/4

The verse is speaking on everything that Moses did after hearing God revealed the commands and laws to him.

24 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Come up to the Lord, you and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel. You are to worship at a distance, 2, but Moses alone is to approach the Lord; the others must not come near. And the people may not come up with him.”

When Moses went and told the people all the Lord’s words and laws, they responded with one voice, “Everything the Lord has said we will do.

The 12 tribes of Israel were named after Jacobs’s children. Moses was simply building an altar so that he could make an offering to God.

 

Matthew 24/4

English Standard Version

 4 And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you.

New International Version

Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you.

King James Version

And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.

Breakdown of Matthew 24/4

Jesus was warning the disciples that at the end of times many will come trying to falsely claim that they are Jesus. Many will try to bring false teaching to people and lead them astray. He is warning Christians to hold tight to sound doctrine.
